Bourron-Marlotte's ideal location on the forest's edge drew many painters, composers and writers, including Cézanne, Cortot and Georges Sand. Visitors strolling through the village streets can see houses that have preserved their nineteenth-century charm and mood. Works by many of the artists who came here on holiday or lived in the village year-round are on display in the town hall-museum. A marked trail takes you past their houses in their footsteps.
